Itinerary

Day 1: Bhaktapur and Panauti Sightseeing

The day begins with a trip from Kathmandu to Bhaktapur, an ancient Newari town and UNESCO World Heritage Site. Bhaktapur is a beautiful example of Newari architectural mastery, with its iconic pagoda roofs and a harmonious blend of wood, mudbrick, and copper. As one of the three main capitals of the ancient Kathmandu Valley, Bhaktapur’s Durbar Square is spacious and open, historically designed to accommodate wrestling events that the kings enjoyed. The city is adorned with carved wrestlers, often revered as protectors of sacred temples.

Next, you will head to Panauti, a small yet picturesque Newari agricultural town. Local legends suggest that Panauti was a dowry gift from a King of Bhaktapur to his sister. Set among rolling hills and sacred rivers, Panauti is home to both Hindu and Buddhist temples, making it a hidden cultural gem in Nepal.

For lunch, you’ll enjoy a meal at a local community homestay, established by the women of Panauti. This is a wonderful opportunity to immerse yourself in the local way of life, savor traditional Nepali food, and support women entrepreneurs while experiencing the warmth of local hospitality.
